William B. & Margaret Tremells
William Tremells of Cork City, Ireland, bought land on Lot 17, Concession 6 in Moore Township, Lambton County in 1832.  However the date when he and his family - wife Margaret, children William, Robert, Margaret Jane and Richard - left Ireland for Canada is unclear.  Census records are inconsistent, but it appears that the youngest child, Richard, was born between 1833 and 1839, and all records state that he was born in Ireland.  The first actual evidence of the family's presence in what was then Upper Canada, is the marriage of Margaret Jane to Adam McDonald.  This took place in 1848, in St. Clair County, Michigan, across the river from the family's home in Moore Township.
Very little is known of William and Margaret Senior.  The obituary of their son Richard, entitled "A Pioneer Gone",  mentions that his father returned to Ireland on a property matter in the early 1850s and died on the return voyage.  Margaret's headstone lies in the Anglican Trinity Sutherland Cemetery, across the road from the St. Clair River.  It has fallen face up on the ground, next to a medium sized monument marking the grave of her son William.  The writing on Margaret's stone is partially obscured, but cemetry records give the full inscription.
Margarit Tramells    Died 23rd Nov. 1868  (Cemetery inscriptions report the date of death as 1888 but I have seen the stone and believe this is an error.)
Native of the City of Cork, Ireland.  Aged 76 years.

In death's cold arms lies sleeping here
A kinder parent, a companion dear.
In love she lived, in peace she died.
Her life was asked, but was denied.
