Lyle lived in Mooretown and married late in life, to Catherine (Kitty) Cunningham, also of Mooretown.. The two had no children, and died within a year of each other, Lyle first in a car accident in Byron, near London, Ontario, and Kitty of tuberculosis in the Sanitarium in London.
Lorne began work with the CPR and moved to
Northwestern Ontario in 1915. He served in World War I, enlisting
in 1917 and serving overseas with the Fourth Division Signal Corps in France.
In 1923 he married Ella Wainio, a resident of Fort William (now part of
Thunder Bay) and they had four children. They lived at a number of
stations along the railway in Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba, including
Upsala, Raith and Portage La Prairie, as well as Fort William. In
their retirement years they operated Tremells Confectionery, a variety
store on the Nipigon Highway (now Lakeshore Drive) outside of Thunder Bay.
